The second running of the Nearwater St Mawes Triathlon took place on Sunday 25th September. The weather was kind and the sea calm for the 900m swim around St Mawes Castle, the swimmers were joined by a seal which watched from a short distance away. The cycle ride of 24 km took the competitors out through St Just and Philliegh and naturally included one or two tough hills. The 3 mile run was around the village and the finish below the castle.
Wednesday night the Roseland Riders went down to Tavern beach and did the new triathlon swim around the castle (about 750m) and then back again.

It has been a great Summer so far in St Mawes, lots of sunny weather, great sailing and interesting visitors.
We also participated in June in channel 4s 4 in a Bed series. I have posted a few pictures in a photo gallery
Local bylaws state that anyone can put down lobster pots and catch up to 2 lobsters a day for their own consumption. Well yesterday evening we caught one of our quota. In a secret location somewhere of the south cornwall coast we pulled up 5 lobster pots.
Tim, Amelia and their daughter Amelia all completed the 1 mile open water swim from Pendennis Castle to St Mawes Castle on Sunday. They were joined by about 400 other swimmers, the force 3 south westerly wind meant conditions were fairly calm for the first half but there was a sharp little chop to make the second half more difficult. Amelia beat her last year's time by over 50 minutes, finishing in 56 mins, Bryony in 48 mins and Tim in 41 mins.
